Can a Mac computer connect files and software to a Windows P.C?

I might get a Macbook for school but most people use P.C's. The main computer is also a Windows computer. Can they connect files? Also, can I have Microsoft office tools on a Mac?

Can a Mac computer connect files and software to a Windows P.C?
You sure can! You can work with Windows networks quite easily. You can purchase Microsoft Office for Mac or you can use NeoOffice, which is an open source office suite for Mac that's compatible with Microsoft Office. NeoOffice is free. Also, don't forget that you can dual boot with Windows XP using Apple's BootCamp software. Therefore, should you ever find anything that Mac can't do (which I haven't yet), you always have the ability to use Windows. Macs are compatible with most file formats right out of the box. If I were you, I would use Apple's iWork in place of Microsoft Office for word processing and presentations, as it's easier to use and the finished projects are beautiful. You can't go wrong with a Mac, trust me. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.
Reply:You can read ofice documents on a MAC useing text edit and can even do some editing with it.

To create new office documents you need to use ofice for mac which comes on a new mac with a 30 day free trial. $150.. for student and teacher version. $400.00 for the standard version

iWord also comes on new Macs with a 30 day free trial $80.00 to buy

You can play around with both and have 30 days to decide which one you want.

Since you have windows pc's at school you can read any word document with the Mac's TextEdit and any document you create with TextEdit or iWord and converted to plain text (file extension .rtf rich text file) can be read on a PC using Wordpad or office.
