How do I get my copy of Windows XP since it didn't come with the software package when I bought the p.c.?

Hi!

If your computer is from Dell or HP or some other major computer manufacturer and if its purchased less than two years ago, you will not have a cd with you. The image of the XP is stored in Hard drive in a partition.

They use this technique for cutting down the costs on shipping a CD with every computer. So you just have to call them and provide your info and then you can get the CD shipped to you.

If your computer is an assembled one, you can try any of the above answers that suits you.

Look out for any authorised Microsoft dealer near your locality. Or just ask your PC provider to supply you an original Windows XP or Vista copy.
Reply:The copy of windows xp os which comes with the fresh system is a 30 days free copy which will expire after the completion of that day.

You need to manually re-build your system after assembling it.
Reply:If you mean you had no disc but XP was fully installed already then you need to create a recovery disc manually and thats your genuine copy of XP.
Reply:was it preloaded ?
Reply:ummm you would have to buy it but i strongly recommend the windows vista version its newer and has better graphics
